State v. Mann was the case that determined that White slaveowners have COMPLETE control over their slaves. This means that they are able to do anything they want to them, including harm, torture and extremely difficult labor. When thinking about these cases, it may seem immoral, but during this time of the trial these actions were normal for people to see everyday and nobody though anything about it.
Josh made a great point when defending State. He used an analogy in where he says that the slaveowner has the right to do whatever he wants to the slave because he purchased it and it is his property. He compared this to buying something at a store. Once you purchase something at the store, it is 100% yours and you have the right to do what ever you want to do with it.
