The members who work in the Supreme Court are a part of an exquisite club. There have been just over 100 Supreme Justices since it was started in 1789. The Justices usually serve on an average of 16 years before retiring. The Supreme Court is in Washington DC, where it consists of the Chief Justice of the United States and a specific amount of other Justices. You have to work your way up, and then eventually be selected by the president to be a part of the Supreme Court. The most recent Associate Justice to be selected was Brett Kavanaugh, selected by Donald Trump.
The Supreme Court is unique in where it receives about 7,000 cases per year and only takes about 1.4% of the cases. These 100 cases that are selected are looked upon by a third and best set of eyes. The Justices sit down and vote on which cases they should pick up. Some of the justices claim that there is something called the “Three Year Rule,” which says that you do not actually start working for about three years, some say that after five years, you still feel somewhat overwhelmed.
